The Vice President of Fund Accounting is responsible for establishing and implementing the direction of the organization to accomplish our mission of providing timely, accurate, and cost-effective products and services while ensuring outstanding client and employee satisfaction. The VP will manage and develop a staff and/or function in all aspects of fund accounting responsibilities including performing supervisory procedures, oversight, problem resolution, training, hiring, development, performance management, daily prioritization, and achievement of business goals as required across a variety of group responsibilities. Primary Responsibilities: - Build solid partnerships with clients and business partners to understand their business focus, facilitate process improvement initiatives and provide a strategic vision of how fund accountings operational environment must adapt to meet future needs
- Maintain well-controlled processes that are designed to minimize risk and improve NAV quality
- Engage in new product development and implementation, complex securities analysis and implementation, systems and operations effectiveness analysis, and regulatory compliance
- Develop strategies and plans that minimize risk, satisfy regulatory requirements, and complete tasks efficiently and in a manner that enhances the customer experience
- Provide functional area expertise, oversight, problem resolution, analysis and reporting as required in areas of accounting, trading, systems, transaction flows, industry trades, etc.
- Lead team by providing motivation, rewarding good performance, addressing poor performance, creating an atmosphere that boosts morale, providing direction, and allocating work efficiently
- Ensure client requests are processed within service level agreements and adhere to regulatory guidelines
- Analyze trends associated with the functions performed by the department, considering volumes and timeliness of functions
Education and Experience: - 15+ years of relevant financial services experience
- 10+ years of progressive management experience
- A Bachelor's Degree
- An MBA
- A CPA is preferred, but not required
Skills and Knowledge: - Expert knowledge of accounting processes across the industry
- Deep knowledge of market drivers and economic conditions and how they have an impact daily deliverables
- Strong understanding of complex security types and fund structures
- Deep understanding of the workings of the accounting industry including a broad industry-based understanding of accounting regulations (FAS157 and FAS161- and their impact on accounts serviced)
- Advanced understanding of government rules/regulations specific to functional areas
- Advanced understanding of systems and tools related to specific product lines and deliverables
- Advanced understanding of system applications used and how they impact new products and initiatives
- Comprehensive understanding of financial/accounting principles (including GAAP)
- Advanced understanding of systems and transaction flows
- Experience with process improvement and measurement
