Staff Mechanical/Software Engineer (10919)

Job Description
  • Interface with Bendix Engineers, OEM customers and Fleet customers to develop the Electronic Air Control (EAC) system requirements.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Pro-E, Catia, Unigraphics and other CAD programs.
  • Knowledge of simulation software like Simulink etc
  • Work with European counterparts to fully learn EAC function/operation.
  • Learn the existing mechanical air dryer product line.
  • Lead the design and development of the mechanical portion of the EAC project (extruded aluminium body, solenoids, sensors, etc).
  • Electro-mechanical systems engineering experience is a plus.
Required Skills

Knowledge:

  • Understand the installation and communication of EAC devices on commercial vehicles, by troubleshooting SAE J1939 CAN messaging protocol.
  • Ability to use and understand CANanalyzer and CANape devices to diagnose/troubleshoot SAE J 1939 and SAE J1587 protocol messages.
  • Lead the work of vehicle & bench test engineers to evaluate and qualify the EAC system on various compressors/engines and vehicle platforms.
  • Represent Bendix at customer visits to showcase the product and to resolve application opportunities/issues.
  • Lead development of the DFMEA, DVP&R and other related engineering documents.
  • Write test requests, analyze test results and develop conclusions/recommendations.
  • Coordinate work with other engineers, technicians and designers.
  • Hands on mechanical work and potential for some electrical work.
  • Develop Bill of Materials for assemblies.
  • Perform design calculations.
  • Six Sigma is required
