Job Description

POSITION DUTIES:
Responsible for design, development, test and implementation of software for Real Time microcomputer controlled train braking and control systems, meeting goals of cost, quality, delivery, and service. This includes brake control related application software as well as test software for both Embedded and PC based platforms. Close coordination with Systems Engineering and Electronics Engineering is required to assure that the software is fully integrated to meet all customer, system, safety and schedule requirements.

  • Work with systems engineering, electronic engineering and other internal groups to define software requirements for new product software development.
  • Design, documentation, implementation and test of software, meeting the requirements and specifications generated during the analysis phase of program development
  • Conduct and participate in design reviews, code reviews, and other procedures which will be used to promote quality software delivery
  • Keep abreast of advances in software engineering technology. Add to current knowledge base by pursuing education and training in related areas of technology for career growth and company benefit
Required Skills

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Software Engineering, BSCS (Computer Science), BSCE (Computer Engineering), or possibly BSEE if it includes strong software design and development process exposure.
  • Understanding of the operation and function of microcomputer hardware and software in Real Time digital controls.
  • Experience with Object Oriented software analysis and design methodologies.
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills and experience with Assembly level programming.
  • Good communication skills and works well in a team environment

PREFERRED:

  • 1-3 years job related experience
  • Understanding of the operation of railway and locomotive brake systems.
  • Experience with Echelon LonWorks TM communications technology.
  • Experience with the Unified Modeling Language (UML) for software specification and design
