Senior Technical Manager

Duties:
Manage the software development staff (up to eight employees) responsible for development, deployment, and support of social media software for all sports related Web sites for our client.
Developing and maintaining products and systems to create, collect, process and deliver content to the Internet with specific attention to availability, performance/capacity planning, and architecture design and implementation.
Developing domestic and international distribution systems for Web content employing a tiered network distribution system.
Developing and maintaining operational control and management systems to support software development, including template development for the web.
Sets technical direction for systems development, upgrade, and deployment projects. Assigns project team members and duties, makes design architecture decisions, reviews methodology, supervises work, and verifies quality of results.
Personnel administration/Human Resources. Provides review, feedback, counseling, and incentives to employees. Ensures Human Resources programs are implemented to produce maximum effectiveness from employees while reinforcing morale and fostering employee retention. Handles pay and administrative issues for employees. Recruit, interview, and train new employees.
Evaluates new and existing processes within the organization. Formalizes and documents the
processes along with policies and procedures to reduce risk and allow effective operation of the group's responsibilities.
Hands on technical work in support of implementation and troubleshooting of software platforms.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, Computer Science or MIS preferred
Expert-level Java or C++ development
5+ years of previous experience building software applications
Applied knowledge of software project management methodologies, including Agile
Advanced HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, Flash, XML, XSLT, PERL, Java, JSP, Unix Shell Scripting and a strong foundation in enterprise level Internet technologies.
Experience with a large-scale web site is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead other software developers.
Good technical judgment, with a proven history of success on large software development projects.
Attention to detail, problem solving, resourcefulness, and self-motivation.
