Sr. Business Analyst

Summary:
Responsible for actively resolving technology needs of the business with a focus on gathering requirements, performing systems and process analysis, design, testing and/or prototyping. Facilitate the optimization of business performance by ensuring the alignment between business processes and information technology. Develop plans and/or recommendations to integrate new and existing standards, methodologies and/or processes for assigned systems. Lead teams in the development of detailed requirements, specifications, use cases, and user stories.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Requirements & Documentation Analysis - Lead business capability, heat mapping and process reviews. Provide recommendations to ensure processes, systems and documentation meet changing business conditions and/or requirements. Research, identify and analyze gaps between current and desired state. Drive out and document detailed functional and non-functional requirements, working closely with stakeholders.
Process and System Design and integration - Perform analysis of processes and software capabilities including complex system process analysis, design and prototyping. May develop alternative design solutions, advise on options, risks, cost v. benefits and impact on other business processes and/or system priorities. Provide expertise in application capabilities and design optimal and efficient solutions to meet user requirements and ensure solutions maintain system integrity.
Prepare process and system specifications - Translate detailed business requirements into functional specifications for the technical engineering teams and manages changes to such specifications.
Subject Matter Expert - Develop subject matter expertise in assigned area during requirements and specification phase. Function as SME after hand-off to development and through implementation.
Testing and roll-out support - Review test criteria and test plans. Provide SME support to testing and implementation teams.
Relationship management- Develop and maintain strong relationship with business partners, stakeholders and internal/external team members.
Team leadership - may be assigned a team of analysts to lead through the requirements/design process on one or more workstreams

Education/Experience:
Minimum Bachelor's degree, Master's degree a plus. Specialization in Business, Finance, or Information Technology
8-10+ years experience in Information Technology projects
Consulting background preferred 

Skills and Competencies: (Expert-level experience/expertise)
Ability to quickly assess and understand organizational structure, business strategies and processes
Knowledge of assigned applications and understanding of the organizations business systems and processes
Ability to understand technical problems and solutions in relation to current as well as future business environments.
Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems
Experience in organizing, planning and executing assigned tasks from conception through implementation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing and explaining technical information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff.
Strong facilitation and presentation skills
Knowledgeable on business process modelling, process mapping.
Capable of writing clear and well structured business requirements and specification documents
Ability to resolve minor conflicts/issues using different tactics for prior to escalation
Work with team members to understand the needs of the project
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Specialized Technical skills -experience in one or more of the following desirable:
o Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence and corporate reporting, RDBMS and/or multi-dimensional data base
o Web Services, Internet/Extranet/Intranet
o Membership Management, Campaign Management, CRM and Sales Force Automation
o Revenue Management Systems
o Property Management systems solutions
o ERP System (PeopleSoft)
