Quality Assurance Manager

This position is responsible for ensuring adherence to Sterling, Inc., quality standards for merchandise and distribution operational practices. Quality Assurance drives the Assay Program to ensure new and current products and vendors meet specifications outlined in product bill-of-materials. Quality Assurance drives the previously owned and restored treasure programs that provide gently used quality merchandise for our customers. The Quality Assurance department also coordinates the gross recovery and gold exchange efforts in order to maximize financial return to the organization. Responsibilities: Manage, coordinate and delegate efforts of Quality Assurance department; Ensure quality inspection techniques and standards are executed properly throughout the distribution center; Audit operational processes to ensure standard operating procedures are followed, report discrepancies and validate correction; Manage and coordinate efforts to track, process and expedite gross recovery of damaged and defective merchandise; Manage and coordinate efforts to track, process and expedite gross recovery of gold exchange merchandise purchased from our customers; Manage and coordinate relationship with refiners to ensure maximum financial recovery at the lowest possible cost; Manage vendor relationships to sell damaged and defective merchandise with the highest possible financial recovery.


Bachelors Degree in Business preferred or equivalent years of experience; Knowledge and experience in maintaining quality control inspection and standards programs. (ISO 9000 experience helpful); 5 years or more of experience in quality process development or review; 5 years or more of management experience; Excellent communication skills; Ability to work with team members at all levels of the company; Ability to communicate and develop action strategies across departmental borders; Ability to coordinate and delegate priorities on a daily basis; Execution of departmental strategies; Develop and communicate long and short-term goals for the department; Attainment of service level: Monitoring and reporting; Develop and implement more efficient procedures within area of responsibility; Develop, implement, and maintain accuracy programs for product movement; Identification of problems and suggestions for resolution; Communicate and coordinate training of new company procedures and practices; Staff development; Counsel and evaluate personnel on the conduct of their daily tasks; Resolve conflicts that arise between employees; Conduct performance appraisals twice a year; Staffing interviewing, hiring, flexing and termination of staff; Provide a positive work environment.
