Purchasing Agent  

Contract
PURCHASING AGENT-

The selected candidate will purchase machinery parts for corrugated and finishing equipment, parts sales, and service.
  • Negotiation with vendors regarding price and delivery
  • Quoting of parts to vendors for pricing
  • Vendor selection/verification
  • Order placement, including confirmations
  • Vendor management pertaining to quality, delivery, and competitive pricing
  • Maintenance of computerized purchasing data base
  • Work closely with Engineering to define part manufacturing requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years experience in an industrial purchasing department or four years related experience in the corrugated or finishing machine manufacturing industry
  • Four year college degree in business, industrial distribution or engineering (or equivalent experience in addition to minimum stated above)
  • Minimum of two years experience with an MRP-type inventory/purchasing system
  • Strong technical background, including ability to read blueprints
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong skills in the use of Word, Excel or similar computer applications in a Windows environment
