Project Manager

The Project Manager has primary ongoing responsibility for the management of large scale, high priority projects which often require larger project teams and high levels of functional integration or multiple non-related large projects. Takes projects from original concept through final implementation. Provides technical and analytical guidance to the program/project teams. Accountable for assembling project team, assigning and managing individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed and developing the program and or project plan and schedule(s) to ensure timely completion of the project. Interfaces with all areas affected by the project. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables. Tends to communicate with executive managements. Typical project size is $250K to $1MM.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Management of large scale, high priority projects which often require larger project teams and high levels of functional integration or multiple non-related large projects through the following Project Management Cycles.
o Initiation - Document project need and feasibility, then obtain project authorization. Initiate projects and/or project phase according to committed timelines. Prepare project budget and ROI (return on investment). Identify and involve the appropriate resources required to attend project kick-off meetings.
o Planning - Based on project size, develop project plans to define the scope of the project; develop communication plans; list activities and their sequencing; define resources; develop project schedule; identify risk and mitigation. Involve project team members in the appropriate parts of the planning process. Communicated plans to the project team, project sponsor and all stakeholders.
o Execute - Coordinate and negotiate (when necessary) the resources require to fulfil the plan. Report on project progress. Assess project team performance.
o Controlling - Monitor and measure progress by managing the project plans, budget, communication and documentation needed to implement the assigned projects. Track and resolve issues as soon as possible. Utilize change management procedures on any changes to the project scope.
o Closing - Formally close out projects by obtaining sign-off from project sponsor, ensure on going support responsibilities are assigned, documentation is completed, resources are released, and lessons learned are collected and recorded.
o Managing a larger scale project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identify appropriate resources needed and developing the project plan and schedule to ensure timely completion of the project - On time, within budget and maintaining scope.
o Provides a structured and practical method for managing change/scope/risk.
o Work effectively with internal and external clients, third party vendors, and senior management in accomplishing project objectives.
o Administer time reporting aggregate project planning, aggregate risk analysis and POI on project.
o Contributes to continuous improvement and evolution of project methods and processes to address emergent requirements.

Position Requirements:
- 2-5 years of project and resource management experience
- College degree in Business related field or Information Technology
- PMP certification and/or other industry and project management training
- 2-5 years of MS Project Server experience
- Insurance industry experience preferred
- Excellent leadership skills

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to plan and facilitate meetings
- Strategic, conceptual and analytical thinking and decision making skills
- Negotiating skills within a context of political sensitivity and conflicting interests
- Extensive knowledge of project management methodology
- Ability to communicate highly technical information in a manner that is business friendly
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Self motivated and directed
