Process Planner:
Perform process planning engineer oriented duties as outlined below. This position will encompass structuring, devising and implementing shop orders and process plans, and creating Non-conforming Material Reports and cost estimates.

Job Description:
1. Structuring -

  • Compile bill of materials (BOM) and input into a data management system.
  • Maintain and update BOMs as needed.
  • Create and document purchase part descriptions that will provide for the acquisition of components specified by ordnance drawings.
  • Identify types and quantities of all items in the BOM; including, but not limited to, individual components, purchased items, and raw material.
  • Time Standards - compile a BOM within 2 weeks of receiving a new Job Order/Procurement Contract Number (JOPCN).
  • Measurement of Standards - Under normal conditions failure to structure completely and accurately all components of the BOM within the allotted time will be unacceptable performance. In addition, following review by senior Process Planner, more than one improperly structured component or quantity will be viewed as unacceptable performance.

2. Shop Orders/Process Plans -

  • Prepare production documentation detailing each operation required for the manufacture of individual parts.
  • Develop operational comprehensive narrative describing in detail what the operator must do to the parts in each operation comprehensive and encompass operations (for example: fabrication, machining, welding, plating, painting, heat treat, inspection and assembly).
  • Modify existing process plans and narrative to reflect new machine capabilities and to react to machine failures and production issues.
  • Configure operations in a logical sequence suited towards the most efficient path through the factory.
  • Maintain operational drawings, casting drawings, and forging drawings applicable to current ordnance drawings.
  • Review Quality Assurance Provisions and contract requirements for the inclusion of in-process inspection, to include the use of statistical process control (SPC).
  • Attach current ordnance drawing revisions to each process plan as technical data is released. Review and compare new ordnance drawings with previous ordnance drawings to determine if a process change shall be initiated, updating process plans as needed.

  • Request and document the need for appropriate fixtures for work holding and specialized or modified tooling.
  • Time Standards - Write component shop orders for all manufactured parts within 30 days of receiving a new JOPCN.
  • Measurement of Standards - Under normal conditions failure to provide a complete and accurate shop order will be unacceptable performance. In addition, following review by senior Process Planner, more than two rewrites or corrections will be viewed as unacceptable performance.

3. Non-conforming Material Reports (NMRs) -

  • Assess and evaluate scrap to determine if rework is possible and economically feasible.
  • Create rework operations and procedures based upon this assessment.
  • Time Standards - Disposition all NMR's within 20 days of receipt.
  • Measurement of Standards - Under normal conditions failure to provide proper disposition will be unacceptable performance. In addition, following review by senior Process Planner, more than one improper disposition will be viewed as unacceptable performance.

  • Create cost estimates, using appropriate software, determining the required operations, inspections, and estimated set-up and per unit processing times.
  • Time Standards - Prepare Cost Estimate within 7 days of receipt of Request for Quote.
  • Measurement of Standards - Under normal conditions failure to provide an estimate which is complete and accurate within 20% of actual cost will be unacceptable performance.
