Paralegal/Record Acquisition Support

Our client, a prestigious legal service organizations has numerous openings due to growth. This progressive organization provides comprehensive analyses of medical information for the defense of claims, individual lawsuits, mass torts or class actions where health, illness or injury is an issue.

The Record Acquisition Specialist is responsible for obtaining medical, non-medical and legal records through the proper legal channels. He/She is responsible for reviewing and extracting specific information to be submited to evidence. The position requires a significant amount of written and verbal correspondence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordination of the record and material acquisition process and all related issues for multiple cases within different litigations.
Ensure the receipt of provider records and materials in a timely manner.
Research provider information through Internet and other resources.
Review of all authorizations to determine if all have been received and are complete, and communicate deficiencies to Client Representatives and Litigation Managers.
Review all legal documents for assigned cases to ensure all demographics have been completely and correctly coded in the system.
Coordinate all subpoenas required for record collection.
Use good judgment and work to solve problems as they arise.
Communicate with both internal and external Clients to detail the acquisition process.
Enter pertinent information into the system related to specific providers and cases.
Generate status reports and client reports.
Identify quality workflow issues and timely communicate to the Record Acquisition Manager.
Delegate tasks to Support staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A 2 or 4-year paralegal degree or equivalent experience
a minimum of 6 months relevant experience in a legal environment
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Working knowledge of legal terminology and ability to identify components of legal documents.
