Manufacturing Engineer

Our client is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer.

Main Duties:
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in manufacturing plant by performing the following duties.
  • Leads a team of manufacturing engineers in supporting operations.
  • Determines the process and the tooling required that is necessary to manufacture the product.
  • Gives full consideration to factors of cost, technical requirements, quality, available equipment, scheduling requirements, and shop capacity.
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
  • Helps to select, train and develop necessary personnel.
  • Provides problem solving, support and solutions for shop operations.
  • Provides process solutions through the use of six sigma techniques as well as lean manufacturing theory.
  • Maintains computer records of processes, bill of materials, and CAD requirements.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs, layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Supports cost reduction and continuous improvements initiatives.
  • Has knowledge of welding, brazing, joining, processes and manufacturing methods.
The following skills, knowledge and experience are required for this position unless noted otherwise:
  • B. A. from four-year college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control math is required.
  • Must have knowledge of Database software, Design software, Internet software, Spreadsheet software.
  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen techniques preferred.
  • Knowledge of welding and brazing required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
