JOB PURPOSE:
The Medical Affairs Trainer for MS will be accountable for the development and implementation of MS MSL training programs for new hires and experienced personnel. The trainer will organize and delegate implementation of programs, processes, and improvements, interface with managers at all levels across various functions within the company to ensure that MS MSL training activities anticipate and meet internal and external needs and are structured to produce effective MSL strategies.
The Trainer's primary responsibilities will include managing and coordinating new hire MS MSL training, advanced training, development training and ongoing skills training. This role will serve as a leader and facilitator for training provided at MS meetings, and will have responsibility for managing all the documentation related to MS MSL training. These responsibilities include creating and implementing all on boarding packages, training plans, managing the Genzyme materials contained in the Medical Affairs shared drive, and creating, implementing and managing required web-based module training systems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage multiple curricula, resources and assessments via the Genzyme web based and shared drive systems.
  • Support field implementation and pull-through training activities for the MS MSL team.
  • Effectively manage a training budget, and provide regular updates and information regarding budgets and forecasts as required for financial reporting.
  • Work with management in developing and implementing advanced MS MSL training program - includes developing certifications and assessments, coordinating resources and speakers, and managing logistics.
  • Work with management and vendors to manage training resource revision projects and content development for multiple curricula. The candidate will also be responsible for evaluating and assessing new systems and technology for advancing training applications, people development, and business needs.
  • Continually provide feedback and input to management on ways to improve training programs, structure and resources, and to proactively analyze, assess and report the impact of the Genzyme Medical Affairs training program.
  • The Trainer's job description includes the significant responsibility of interfacing with legal and compliance functions in order to implement and refine, as needed, policies and procedures pertaining to internal training.
  • Work with management in developing and implementing leadership development program in concert with corporate initiatives - includes communication skills, coaching, mentoring, interviewing skills, dealing with difficult situations, and other MSL and management training.
  • Travel time will include field visits with the MS MSLs.
  • Additional primary job responsibilities of the Trainer will include a communication management responsibility. This responsibility will be primarily focused on developing and managing effective two way communication among Genzyme's internal departments. These are departments that the Medical Affairs team works closely with on numerous initiatives. This role will include responsibility for publishing an update/summary of related Genzyme department's project initiatives to ensure awareness among the Medical Affairs team. In parallel, effective communication management will allow us to apprise related departments on the Medical Affairs initiatives and to provide them progress updates.

    Qualifications
    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
    Bachelor's degree in a life science subject and 5 years pharma/biotech industry experience or 5 years experience in a Multiple Sclerosis clinical environment is preferred.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
  • Advanced degree. In lieu of an advanced degree the candidate must have 5 or more years experience in pharmaceutical industry, 2 or more years experience in training or teaching roles, adult training experience preferred
  • Medical background or Multiple Sclerosis disease state experience
  • Knowledge of Industry Learning Principles
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Exceptional facilitation skills, and the ability to stand and deliver training as well as coordinate outside resources
  • Strong computer skills, familiarity with some type of Learning Management System preferred
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Experience writing assessment questions preferred
  • Approximately 40% travel required
