Job Description:

Position Summary:
The Material Planning Manager is responsible for analysing, planning and managing the flow of materials to ensure they are provided according to schedule.  The Material Planning Manager develops and implements strategies to keep inventory at a minimum without compromising customer expectations.

Scope/Supervision and Interaction:
Position will report to the Divisional Production Control Manager and interact intra-divisionally with logistics and procurement.  Will manager personnel, inventory and production control.

Essential Functions:
Manages and prepares division inventory relating to records, tracking of materials, changing business activity, quality of materials and stocking levels. Works closely with procurement to ensure reorder processes and timely delivery of materials are in place.

Administers the development and implementation of an aggressive inventory reduction program limiting the Divisions exposure to excess inventory cost. Adjust inventory levels associated with any backlog production. 

Analyzes production requirements based on immediate sales orders and short/medium term forecast considering production resources (people, materials, equipment). Works with Division management to determine within single or multi-plant production facilities the most cost efficient utilization of production resources for on time delivery and minimization overall cost.

Develops scheduling to establish sequence and lead times of manufacturing operations. Requires scheduling in weekly, monthly or longer production cycles.

Job Requirement:
Qualifications:
-Minimum of 3-5 years experience in inventory and production control.
-4 year college degree in business, engineering, or materials management required with certification
 in supply chain management preferred.
-Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper  automation opportunities.
-Must have advanced computer skills and be able to understand of electronic processing.
-Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
-Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices.

Accountable for location/division materials metrics and Standards of Performance. Responsible for the procurement and production control operations within a manufacturing facility. Facilities lean processes in making materials flow throughout the facility as well as through the entire process. (Kanbans, Supermarkets, Vendor Managed Inventory) Builds a high performance work team in which planners, buyers, and team leaders will work closely together to prepare a master schedule which will establish sequence and lead times of manufacturing operations. Requires scheduling weekly, monthly, or large production cycles. Actively participates with Division management to resolve conflicts from unpredictable variances affecting the master schedule. (changing priorities, engineering changes, material shortages, scrap/repairs, labor shortages, machine availability) Prepares detail reports detailing current activities and suggest improvement processes. Qualifications: Experience in materials management systems including supply chain management, cash flow and asset management, JIT, MRP, cellular manufacturing and with APICS/CPM certification preferred. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft PC Software (Spreadsheets, word processing, databases and presentations)
