The Cleveland Public Library is seeking a Human Resources Director to provide strategic counsel to the Library's Senior Executive Team, functional leadership to the Human Resources Department, and HR guidance and support for Library Managers This is a unique opportunity for a senior level human resource professional to provide leadership during a period of rapid and exciting change in one of Northeast Ohio's most respected institutions

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field A masters degree is preferred
• Minimum of 8 years of successful experience dealing with a wide variety of human resource issues
• Minimum of 6 years of successful management leadership experience
• A strong background in labor and employment law
• Specific areas of required HR functional experience include:
• Human Resource strategic planning
• Recruiting, selection, and on-boarding systems
• Organization development and training
• Performance management systems
• Compensation & benefits management
• Successfully managing organizational change
• Strong employee relations background
• HRIS systems, record keeping & management reporting
• Health & safety and workers compensation
• Diversity & inclusion

Preferred qualifications include:

• Public sector experience
• Experience in a union environment with labor relations responsibilities
• Experience in a large/urban library setting
• SHRM PHR/SPHR certification

The successful candidate must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to interact effectively throughout the organization and within the community Being able to effectively juggle multiple activities, handle shifting priorities, and operate comfortably in an ambiguous and changing environment are all necessary attributes
