Job Description POSITION DUTIES: Responsible for evaluation, design, implementation and testing of all electrical interfaces to NYAB equipment. This includes Interfaces such as communication signals, discrete and analog signals, power, as well as compatibility with the electro-magnetic environment. The ES Engineer will work with the systems engineers to review customer specifications, design the compliance approach in accordance with V-model methods, prepare internal specifications for hardware and software development, support validation and verification testing and support field commissioning to demonstrate compliance to requirements. Analysis of existing applications for susceptibility and troubleshooting is also required. - Cooperation on project tenders with sales/engineering departments so that out of customer and market requirements, KB establishes the appropriate electrical interface approach.
- Technical clarification of ESE requirements for brake control equipment
- Creation/design of project specific ESE system concepts considering national and international norms/standards
- Support of new products at initiation and definition of new/innovative developments/components.
- Interface Specifications for all communications interfaces
- Measurement and testing of electrical environments on locomotives and rail vehicles
- Measurement of the environment of target applications and design applications to perform and survive in that environment.
- Failure Modes and Affects Analysis (FMEA) of electrical interfaces and environments
Additional Skills: - Language skills: English fluent
- Basic knowledge in programming language: C, C++, Visual Basic (beneficial)
- Software Design for Embedded systems
- Software applications: MS Office (Excel, Word, MSProject, Powerpoint, Outlook)
- Communications experience (LON comm./networking, Ethernet, Serial, HDLC, CAN, MVB
Required Skills POSITION REQUIREMENTS: - BS in EE or related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience in electronic systems engineer or related field
- Communications interfaces
- Safety strategies in systems and software
- System architecture of electronic/electric systems for rail/locomotive application or industrial/commercial equipment
- EMC/EMI mitigation strategies (including test and validation methods)
