THE WEST SIDE CATHOLIC CENTER Job Description Job Title: Director of Advancement Reports To: Executive Director SUMMARY Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Advancement is responsible for managing all initiatives to strengthen the base of support to sustain the organization's operations and long-term stability, including: - Creation and operation of a Major Gifts Program
- Creation and operation of Annual Fund and Special Appeal Program;
- Creation, supervising and oversight of the Planned Giving Program
- Supervision and oversight of all special events
- Supervision of Grant Management Program
- Supervision of Publications
- Supervision of Volunteer Program
- Supervision of Marketing and Public Relations
The Director of Advancement works closely with the Board in developing funding. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Major Gifts:
Develops, implements and manages strategies for identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major donors and prospects. Coordinates prospect research for major gift potential Designs and coordinates donor recognition systems, including event and communication tactics. Manages reporting and tracking to meet internal planning and management needs and external compliance requirements. - Annual Fund and Special Appeals:
Develops with the Executive Director, support staff and volunteers, the organization's annual and special fund campaigns, including but not limited to: board fundraising, direct mail, special appeals and capital campaigns. Designs, implements, manage and monitor strategies for increasing the donor base and the amount of funds raised on an annual basis. Designs and monitors ongoing reporting and acknowledgment systems to measure progress toward fundraising goals and to ensure timely and accurate stewardship and tracking of gifts. Prepares and presents reports as required to support the individual development function. Provides supervision and oversight of initiatives to increase the number of individual who are familiar with and actively support the mission of the organization. - Planned Giving:
Provides supervision and oversight of the organization's planned giving/bequest program in accordance with fiscal and legal requirements; and manages the cultivation and stewardship of prospects and donors. - Special Events:
Provides supervision and oversight of special events, including, but not limited to Bi-Annual Cocktail Party, Bi-Annual Saturday Breakfast & Tour, Golf Outing, 5K Run/Walk & Pancake Breakfast, Warm Hearts Winter Nights, and Annual Advisory Board Meeting. Discusses with Development and Marketing Committees and volunteers the development of other events to increase individual giving, to expand the constituency base, and to enhance the visibility of the West Side Catholic Center. - Data Base Management:
Provides supervision and oversight of management of the fundraising database. Involved in policy decisions about the management of the fundraising database. - Grant Management:
Provides supervision and oversight of the submission of all foundation, federal, state, and corporate grants. Develops and maintains policies and procedures for the submission of grants. Maintains a summary of grant activity and reporting requirements. - Publications:
Provides supervision and oversight of the quarterly newsletter, annual report and print media. QUALIFICATIONS - Outstanding personal and written communication skills.
- Proven organizational and self motivation skills.
- Strong analytical and planning skills.
- Ability to motivate individuals and groups demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and monitor own performance objectives.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of three years experience in professional fundraising.
- Above average computer skills including: Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, Internet research skills and experience.
- Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising software package.
