Job Description
Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC combines and expands the complementary wheel-end foundation brake technologies of two global leaders - Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC and Dana Commercial Vehicle Products, LLC. The joint venture, formed in July 2004, is your single complete source for brake system research, design, manufacturing, hardware and support for all foundation brake components and actuation systems for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, tractors, trailers, buses and other commercial vehicles in North America and around the globe.

We are looking for a Design Engineer II/III to be based in our Elyria, Ohio corporate facility.

Basic Function/Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead in completion/revision of assigned DFMEA's and test plans.
  • Perform component design and development changes and other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • Responsible for complete technical documentation of parts and assemblies from concept to release.
  • Create models, drawings, and release documentation as required to support project timelines.
  • Participate in prototype builds, test department meetings, and engineering team meetings.
  • Support product launch with troubleshooting, specification interpretation initial product audits (IPA's).
  • Completion of general engineering tasks to support product timelines.

Responsibilities of Position:

  • Coordinate work with engineers, other designers, technicians, manufacturing, suppliers and customers in the support of existing products.
  • To keep development program on schedule by making full use of technical skills.
  • Works with others in the application of processes and tools. Aid in supporting the business's current and future PLM tools (Teamcenter, Pro/E)
  • Expected to keep current with the industry (Journals, SAE, TMC participation, etc.)
Required Skills
  • Proficiency in creating design intent using Pro/Engineer CAD modelling and drawing creation tools.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency, creativity, and confidence to achieve quality results quickly. Ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to influence others in positive ways and work under conditions of changing priorities and work assignments.
  • Demonstrable history of project involvement from concept to production.
  • Must work well in a team environment and have the ability to manage time and to prioritize efforts.
  • PC skills: Microsoft Office Suite (MS Project and Minitab are a plus)
  • Demonstrates Leadership
  • Self Development AttitudeExcellent verbal and written communication skills; interacts with local and global project team members and peers to anticipate and resolve issues.
  • Ability to identify issues and areas for improvement with existing technical processes.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Multi cultural awareness (Europe, North America, Asia).
  • Additional language skills a plus (German, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese)
  • Accountable to meet scheduled deadlines.
