Data Administrator  

Contract

Adecco Engineering and Technical, a division of the world leader in the recruitment of engineering and information technologies professionals, has an immediate opening for a Data Base Administrator IV with a leading in employer in Birmingham, AL.

Objective: The Database Administrator is responsible for the database development and production support for external Web based applications and internal database services.

Responsibilities:
Design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability.
Troubleshoot production processes and solve problems in Real Time
Deploy SQL code to production Servers
Write code for database access, modifications, and constructions including stored procedures.
Work with application development staff to develop database
architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and
procedures.
Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.
Support the production database systems and respond to and resolve production issues.
Responsible for code reviews of developer-written SQL code.
Monitor database system details within the database, including stored
procedures and execution plans, and implement efficiency improvements.
Estimate effort to complete software development activities and provide input that adds value to the management of software development projects.
Understand the cost and time constraints imposed on assigned tasks & alert before an overrun occurs.
Work with the Requirements/Product Management group to assure business needs are met through the implementation process.
Work with the SQA group to assure best quality and rapid turnaround for changes that surface during testing.
Design and execute database maintenance procedures
Organize work priorities and manage time effectively.

Skills: Basic Qualifications:
College degree in the field of computer science and/or 4 years equivalent work experience
7 years experience with database structures, theories, principles, and practices
5 years Demonstrated recent experience in Microsoft SQL Server production support
5 years experience with query tuning, database maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting SQL Server production systems

Preferred Skills:
Designing and maintaining large scale production SQL Server database systems
Good communications skills and able to problem solve
Positive, enthusiastic, energetic and self-motivated
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail
Proficient in T-SQL, stored procedures, views and table design
Replication
Database Disaster Recovery and Planning
SQL Server profiler and Windows performance monitor
Disk and Server configuration for SQL Server
Experience with Software Development Lifecycle
Strong communication skills
