BASIC FUNCTION:
Under administrative supervision, coordinate and implement food preparation and kitchen services and activities. Order food and supplies, prepare related documentation, monitor and evaluate provided services. In certain program locations, may be required to supervise assigned clients/volunteers in food service activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under direction ensure that the activities of this program and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the Secretariat for Catholic Charities Health and Human Services and Catholic Charities Services Corporation.
  • Prepare meals for clients.
  • Plan monthly/weekly menus and submit to dietitian/program director for review and approval.
  • Purchase food and dietary supplies.
  • Submit food/dietary receipts/invoices to the director or designated representative as appropriate.
  • Supervise kitchen, dining room, and food storage areas as to cleanliness and sanitation, including all food preparation equipment. Supervise clients/volunteers assisting in these area activities where necessary.
  • Update related documents, such as dietary handbooks, nutrition literature, food surveys, etc., as needed.
  • Complete/review all client food surveys including assessment with each new client.
  • Meet weekly or as scheduled with dietitian/supervisor.
  • Attend all meetings as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
  • Combination of education and experience normally represented by a High School Diploma or equivalent and one to three years related professional experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire if driving is warranted.
  • Experience in food handling and preparation, kitchen management, and menu planning. Knowledge of recognized methods and skills in provision of good nutrition desired.
  • Ability to monitor allocated food budget.
  • Must have good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to form good working and therapeutic relationships.
  • Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software preferred.
  • A verified safe driving record in the State of Ohio with no greater than four (4) points, and provide a copy of license. Driving record will be obtained through Motor Vehicle Abstract if driving is warranted.
  • Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
