Carbon Product Engineer  

Permanent

This position is responsible to find new markets for the carbon products being developed. He/she will coordinate material development efforts with customers' CTQs and is expected to have intimate knowledge of customer designs and material properties to allow him/her to find markets which will support the cost of carbon materials while taking advantage of the material properties. The individual is expected to be a hands on person willing to run tests, collect data and develop dynamometer procedures to meet customer requirements. The individual will work closely with all internal teams consisting of sales, manufacturing and material development and must be willing to travel as required to present data to customers in a professional manner. Strong communication and organization skills are a must.

Job Duties
Travel to customers with sales and intimately learn customer CTQ's. Communicate customer needs back to development team. Develop test plan to help evaluate materials in a meaningful way.
Work closely with development team and understand material and process properties and limitations.
Write dynamometer procedures and work closely with lab personnel to ensure tests are being run properly.
Organize test plan and data to allow for structured, orderly development path. Ensure timelines are met by balancing work load and dynamometer schedule.
Assist team members whenever needed to ensure deadlines are met.
Find new sales opportunities that take advantage of the material properties and will support the price of specialty materials
Enter product and costing information into QAD as new parts are introduced.

Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years experience in Application Engineering or Chemical Engineering. Friction material experience or experience working with high temperature, specialty materials a plus.
Strong analytical and communication skills and decision making ability.
Hands on position that requires engineering skills as well as project management skills.
Experience in racing applications a plus. Experience using QAD a plus.
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, TS 16949 or ISO 9000, Six Sigma, SPC, 5S, and Microsoft Office.
