Book Compositor - Layout and Production

Lachina Publishing Services, a 3-time Northcoast 99 Greatest Place to Work recipient, is looking for an individual to do just that, arrange type (layout pages) for printing (make pdfs), or key text (auto-flow manuscript) into a composing machine (Apple computer). Join our team and we'll teach you the art of good layout and composition. 

We want an energetic InDesign know-it-all to join our team to work on 1-color and 4-color books to serve the educational and professional markets. We will train the right individual on the art of book composition and the technical nature of book layout and production.

What you need: 
Thorough knowledge of Adobe InDesign 
 The ability to build templates, master pages and style sheets 
 Great typographic knowledge 
 An eye for page layout 
 Teamwork potential as a leader and a player 
 Technical trouble-shooting 
 Deadline-driven work ethics 
Decision-making ability 
1-3 years experience in page layout 
Graphic design or publishing experience 

What you'll do: 
 Lock down and update provided designs and make them production-ready 
Pour text into InDesign using the templates you've created 
 Layout spreads according to spec 
Make corrections 
Generate proof and press quality PDF's 
Interact with your project team
