APPLICATION DEVELOPER- TRACE MINING

Position Summary:
Verify deliverables from outsourced development team; create repeatable processes to "package" deliverables into robust products for customers; and contribute technical and process leadership to accelerate development of platform. Demonstrable, extensive software development experience in the F/OSS space (primarily in high-level Scripting languages and SQL) is absolutely mandatory. Beyond that, the ability (and eagerness) to quickly learn new tools and techniques, building on your current knowledge base, is required as we evolve the platform.

Scope:
This is an extremely hands-on position, with intense, daily interaction with all members of the team. Fast-paced, flexible, and entrepreneurial mindset required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Work with VP Advanced Technology to implement new features, capabilities of TM platform as required.
• Evaluate current TM platform and provide concrete suggestions for improvement.
• Review and verify work of outsourced software developers.
• Responsible for "packaging" TM platform for customer deployments.
• Write actual code as required.

Qualifications:

• Loves F/OSS mandatory
• Heavy Python experience mandatory. Equivalent extensive Java/PHP/Ruby experience will be considered.
• GNU/Linux
• and/or.BSD experience mandatory (no MCSE-types allowed)
• SQL development experience mandatory; PostgreSQL/SQLite3 preferred
• MVC expertise required, Django preferred
• Experience developing or working with GIS software much preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work with remote colleagues, distributed teams (point to F/OSS projects you lead/contribute to). Actual demonstrable coding experience counts more that degrees and certifications.
• Extra points for experience with: Mapnik; TileCache; OpenLayers; PostGIS; SpatiaLite; PySide; CLIPS; Lucene/Solr; Hadoop/Dumbo
